Monitor TUI

Live terminal dashboard for configuration, run browsing, and analysis output.

pmoke monitor (or bare pmoke) opens a live terminal dashboard. It runs the same workflow commands you would run by hand and surfaces their output; it never edits configuration files and never touches hardware beyond what the selected command itself does.

Layout

  • Header: status (RUNNABLE when the configuration loads, BLOCKED when it carries diagnostics), the active run label, and a minutes:seconds timer.
  • Context bar: working directory and configuration path; it collapses to a compact form on narrow terminals.
  • WORKFLOW: the command list with a DETAIL description of the selected row. / filters, Enter runs the selected command.
  • RUNS: the S2 run browser (see below).
  • INSPECTOR: SUMMARY, CONFIG, DIAGNOSTICS, ARTIFACTS, and REPORTS tabs for the selected workflow entry or the pinned run preview.
  • ACTIVITY: live command output with LIVE, PAUSED, and HISTORY states.
  • Footer: the key hints for the focused pane. ? opens the full help overlay, which is generated from the same key registry as the event loop, so the overlay always matches the implementation.

Focus

Four panes share one focus ring in spatial order: workflow, runs, inspector, activity.

KeysEffect

Tab / Shift-Tab (l / h, Right / Left)Focus next / previous pane
iCycle inspector tabs (focuses the inspector)
1-5 while the inspector is focusedSelect inspector tab directly (5 = REPORTS)

Keys

Global keys (work in every pane):

KeysEffect
?Toggle help overlay (q or Esc closes it)
qQuit; while a command runs, arms a confirmation instead (q again quits, Esc stays)
/Filter the focused list (workflow or runs)
EnterRun the selected command, or pin the selected run preview while runs are focused
[ / ]Older run / back to live activity
rRefresh configuration and files
Ctrl+CInterrupt the running command
EndFollow live activity
EscClose dialog, clear search/selection, then leave the panel (never cancels a run)

List keys (j/k move, g/G first/last) apply to the focused list: workflow selection, run selection, inspector scroll, or activity selection. Activity adds v visual-line select, y copy, K/J extend selection, PageUp/PageDown and Ctrl+U/Ctrl+D scroll. Search typing appends to the filter; Enter commits, Backspace erases, Esc clears.

Run browser

RUNS lists sibling run directories next to the current one: the scan root is the parent of the run directory, falling back to the configuration file's parent and then the startup directory. Scanning is read-only and budgeted (at most 512 directories, depth 3, 200 entries, 64 KiB per manifest); a partial list is marked TRUNC rather than silently short. / filters by name, path, status, or stage, and Enter pins the selected run as a read-only inspector preview. Empty states read no run dirs under scan root and no runs match the filter.

Reports inspector

The S3 REPORTS tab answers "what happened inside the selected run" without running anything: press 5 while the inspector is focused (i cycles through it like every other tab, j/k scroll the combined table). The top rows name the selected run, then a Stages section reads the run's per-stage lifecycle status from its run.toml manifest, and a Reports section summarizes the standalone lane reports (calibrate-report.json, noise diagnostics.json, compare-report.json, m6-evaluation-report.json) plus the calibration.json artifact and the analysis/manifest.toml publication state. Every probe is a bounded read-only file read: missing, oversized, or unparsable files degrade to an explicit not found / unreadable marker instead of failing the render. With no run selected the tab names the scan root and budgets and points at the runs browser.

Safety and environment

  • Quitting while a command runs needs a second q; the footer shows q again to stop + quit while armed. Esc never stops a command.
  • PMOKE_MOUSE=off (also 0, no, false, disabled) disables mouse capture; otherwise click, drag, and wheel work.
  • PMOKE_MOTION=full|reduced|off calms live animation while a command runs.
  • Display truncation is cell-based, so wide characters never overflow their panel; the interface itself stays English-only.
